Welcome to Occasionally Speaking: A Love Letter to Weddings

Hi there — I’m Rose, the heart behind Rose to the Occasions. If we haven’t met yet, I’m a wedding planner, lifelong celebration enthusiast, Frenchie mom (hi Fiona and Gloria!), and the kind of person who tears up during first looks every single time. I grew up in this world — my grandparents owned a wedding venue, my aunt was a florist, and I jumped in professionally at 20 and never looked back. Simply put, I’ve been living and breathing weddings my whole life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m also a bride myself — I married my incredible husband in 2021. He's a vintage locomotive restorer (yes, really), so when I’m not wrangling timelines and styling place settings, I’m usually playing the role of supportive train wife. Our life is full of events, travel, and more than a few adventures that don’t always involve floral foam or seating charts.

This blog, Occasionally Speaking, is a place where I can step out from behind the timeline and share the heart behind what I do. I’ll be writing about:

  • The real (and sometimes hilarious) behind-the-scenes of planning
  • Helpful tips and advice for couples in the thick of it
  • Inspiring love stories and design ideas I can’t get enough of
  • Lessons learned from hundreds of weddings — and a few close calls
  • And every now and then, a peek into my own life and what keeps me inspired

Whether you're a couple planning your big day, a vendor friend in the industry, or just someone who loves love — you’re welcome here.

Thanks for being part of the story. I’m so glad you’re here.

Cheers,
Rose
